Freedom and Leela, world music singers of Indian Music, perform Punjabi Folk, Ghazals, Qawwalis and Kirtan music.
At their live Indian music performances Freedom and Leela present original fusion compositions, Punjabi Folk Music, as well as classic Ghazals by Jagjit, Mehndi Hassan, Ghulam Ali, Pankaj Udhas; Qawwalis by Nusrat, Atullah Khan; and some classic film songs of the 70's in Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi. They cater to the needs and response of the audience creating a mood and ambience that builds throughout the event.

Freedom, born in Kenya with parents from India has been performing and studying Indian music since the age of 11. He is drawn to Indian music that moves the spirit and frequently sings poetry, and Eastern mystical and contemporary writings with a deeper meaning, classic Ghazals, Geets, Qawwalis and Hindi Songs; and of course his native Punjabi Folk Music and Kirtan. His soothing, uplifting vocals and heartwarming music intimately connects him with his audience. He has been greatly influenced by the music of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Jagjit Singh.
Leela was born in Nova Scotia and is of Scottish origin. She began singing Celtic, Gospel and Christian music from the age of 6. Trained as a professional soprano, she has studied Hindi and Indian music and has learned to weave and blend her melodious Western sensitivities into Indian Music genres. She has a great passion for singing Punjabi Folk Music, Ghazals, Qawwalis and Kirtan. Her silky, smooth voice and dynamic musical range will draw you to your heart center.
