Bhangra in Vancouver has its roots from Punjabi Weddings and Sikh Weddings in Punjab, India. Bhangra is commonly performed or danced during the Vaisakhi or Baisaki Festival and has now become part of most Punjabi Wedding celebrations and even Ladies Sangeet Parties. Bhangra was traditionally performed with simple vocals and the use of a dhol drum, now a days it has become a common dance item which is accompanied to recorded music played by the Indian DJ.
