The Dholak or dholki is a North Indian, Pakistani and Nepalese double-headed hand-drum used for singing and dancing, especially for pre-wedding festivities. It is often used in Indian songs and Films, Sangeets, Hindi Film Songs, and Punjabi Folk Songs. The deep rich sound of this drum sets a great hypnotic groove for dancing, singing and chanting.
The dholak or dholaki is commonly found at Ladies Sangeet parties and is used for Folk music events. Freedom and Leela often use dholak accompaniment for their live Indian Punjabi desi music events.
