Freedom and Leela’s Indian Music performances are made up of: Ghazals by Jagjit Singh and Mehdi Hassan; Old Punjabi Folk Songs by Asa Singh Mastana, and Surinder Kaur and Parkash Kaur; and other singers in these music genres. Of course they move audiences with the electrifying Qawallis of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan with renditions of Mast Qalander and Kinna Sohna. Their classic, slow Old Hindi Movie Songs create an emotional response with listeners, especially with songs like Jot Se Jot. They also create and sing their own original compositions, sometimes made specifically to cater to the particular event, like Lohri or a birthday celebration.
Freedom and Leela typically give a 2 hr. performance in a traditional sit-down format. They create special vocal magic with their blending voices, supported with the accompaniment of harmonium and Indian rhythmic and Western loops. They also add percussionists or instrumental soloists to their group upon request.
